From the sun-scorched thresholds of Hermosillo arises Margaritas Podridas, born not of comfort but of reverence for the underground tongues of the 90s. And it is said their sound is woven from distortion and dust—grunge-born fractures of song, shoegaze veiled in sediment, and the untamed eruptions of college rock’s electric prophets. Their guitars do not merely play; they cry out, layered like torn veils across a restless sky. Yet beyond sound, there is covenant: a political current running beneath the surface, and a DIY scripture carried forward from those who once believed music to be confrontation, not commodity.
And in another unfolding, within the forgotten vessels of Los Angeles, it came to pass that Monde UFO was formed—first as a solitary revelation of Ray Monde. In an abandoned warehouse along the 7th Street corridor, he laid his hands upon an old Yamaha church organ, and from it drew basslines, harmonies, and rhythmic decrees, as though the instrument itself remembered older liturgies. Thus began a solitary practice recorded on four-track cassette, where voice and guitar were added like offerings to a growing vision.
Dwelling for a time in the margins of Skid Row, he shaped a sound both luminous and haunted—where worldly jazz and psych folk converge in a drifting expanse, influenced by the wandering spirit of Sandy Bull. And it is written that his work turned toward meditation and the language of UFOs, as if seeking contact not only with sound, but with that which lies beyond it—messages received in static, and translated into song.
