On Playin’ Dumb, shaped and guided in close collaboration with The Lemon Twigs, the New York trio Tchotchke enters into a quiet negotiation between proximity and distance, between memory’s haze and the sharp edge of the present.
Here, their sound—part bubblegum reverie, part art-rock incantation—feels unearthed rather than composed, as though an old, half-forgotten secret has been lifted from a dust-laden archive of vinyl and placed once more into the light.
